We're proud to own the Rob Roy & Jacobite Cottages at Glengyle Steadings and take pride in their place in Scottish history. Bringing up a family in Glasgow we used to cycle, walk and enjoy boat trips around Loch Katrine but never imagined one day owning properties in this stunning and tranquil part of the Trossachs.
With children and grand-children born and raised drinking water from Loch Katrine, it is fair to say our family have the place in our hearts and souls. Our grandchildren Madison and Hunter love walking around the Loch, seeing deer, birds of prey, wild goats and generally enjoying the peacefulness. There are easy walks along with Loch’s shore, the local hills and fantastic views from Ben Lomond, Ben Ledi and Ben Venue should you fancy something more challenging.
We love cycling as a couple and once again enjoy the scenic journey along the private road at Loch Katrine but we also enjoy off-road going through the forest and trails between Loch Venachar and Trossachs pier. One of the most important and underappreciated aspects of the cottages are the lack of light pollution and crystal clear sky's in the evenings. It gets dark but the stars are incredible; no words can describe the amount of new, bright shining stars you can see in the pitch black evenings. If you're looking for a romantic getaway for two, or simply a week to explore the untamed nature of the Trossachs, you will find your dream holiday at Glengyle Steadings.
